Class Descriptions

Ashtanga Yoga: (All Levels)
Often described as an heroic practice.  With its powerful linking of postures and full rhythmic breathing, it is a yoga system like no other.  Deep internal heat purifies the body on a cellular level while enhanced levels of concentration relax the mind and internal energy locks strengthen the nervous system.

Barre Method Inspired Pilates Class: (All Levels)

Enjoy a whole body workout that combines elements from ballet, modern dance, and Pilates in an hour long "Power Barre" class. Elongate and firm your body and improve your posture and balance to upbeat music in a challenging but fun environment. Classes typically start with barre work that fuses routines from dance classes with the principles of Pilates to make it safe and effective for all. Next, class continues with floor work which is most heavily influenced by Pilates mat exercises.

Flow & Restore Yoga: (All Levels)

This class is the perfect way to end your weekend and get centered and peaceful for the upcoming week.  We will move through 45minutes of a slow, yet powerful vinyasa flow and end with 30 minutes of deeply relaxing and restorative postures. 

Classical (Sivananda) Hatha Yoga: (All Levels)
Sivananda Yoga is a classical and holistic approach to Hatha Yoga that stretches and tones the body from head to toe.  The Sivananda practice establishes physiological balance in the body and secures mental poise through its scientifically designed series of asanas (yoga postures) and pranayama (yogic breathing techniques). The Sivananda practice includes: Initial Relaxation; Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar): 12 Basic Asanas; Additional Asanas and Variations; and Final Relaxation.

Core Strength Vinyasa Yoga: (All Levels)
The Principles and Poses [associated with Core Strength Vinyasa Yoga (TM)] simplify how to access, comprehend and use the “core” most efficiently to gain the maximum yoga benefits (calorie burn, strength, flexibility, focus, self-awareness, confidence…) in the least amount of time.

Deep Stretch & Relaxation: (All Levels)

A 75 minute class focusing on the body of someone who works on her feet, especially the Food Service Industry folk!  Taught by someone who has been in "the industry" for years, special attention is given to opening the back body, especially the lower back; releasing tension from the shoulders and the feet; and opening the hips helping to relieve common sciatica!  Relaxation and breathing techniques are introduced to help handle stressful situations.  Servers and bartenders will love it! Very beginners are encouraged to come and surprise themselves!

Empower Yoga & Meditation: (All Levels)

Join us for a dynamic, aligned, vinyasa flow. Conclude your practice with seated meditation. Prepare for your week with a clear, peaceful, compassionate mind.

Friday Karma Yoga "Happy Hour": (All Levels)
Looking for a great way to unwind from the week and move into the weekend?  Happy Hour classes meet every Friday evening at 6:00 pm. The classes will be on a variety of themes.  Bring a Yoga buddy and enjoy!

Hatha Bhakti Flow Yoga: (All Levels)
This Vinyasa class has Bhakti (devotion) at its heart.  Learn to love your practice and love your Self in a sacred space.  Chanting mantras is a key element of Bhakti Yoga.  During this class you will be bathed in the healing vibrations of ancient sound formulas.  In addition to a traditional Hatha Flow (Sun Salutations with variations, etc), there is an eclectic blend of several styles of yoga as the instructor is trained in various schools of yoga philosophy.  No two classes are the same.  Each class will have a deep spiritual focus which will bring the physical experience to a soul level. 

Hatha Yoga: (All Levels)
Traditional Asanas (postures) are held in accurate alignment.  Emphasis is placed on gaining strength, flexibility, balance, also on concentration and breath control.  Based on physical postures, deep breathing, mindfulness and listening to your body.

Karma Yoga & Kirtan: (All Levels)

Karma Yoga & Kirtan: (All Levels)  Last Friday of Month

Kick off your weekend with Karma Yoga & Kirtan at Studio 11 the LAST Friday of every month! Come for a fun & flowing Vinyasa class from 6:00-7:00pm taught by Denys Morgan and stay for a heart opening community chanting session from approximately 7:15-8:15pm which will be followed by a sanga "happy hour." Enjoy Yogi Tea and healthy snacks and the pleasure of spending quality time with like-minded souls in a scared space.

The kirtan will start with the Maha Mantras (Gayatri & Tryambakam) followed by several chants to the deities (usually themed by a holiday or season) and will conclude with the blessings/peace mantra, Arti and prashad. No experience or a "good singing voice" is necessary. It is a very organic, user-friendly, casual gathering gear towards an overall learning experience on many levels. It is always about a practice rather than a performance and devotion is the pure purpose! The co-faciliators: Julie Brown, Grant Marquit, Melissa Daubert & Denys Morgan are open to allow other community members to lead the chants. All are welcome!

Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan: (All Levels)

Kundalini Yoga is a transportation system that will activate your energy and move you into a radiant space of living where life becomes prosperous, meaningful and enjoyable.  It is a vast, comprehensive, and powerful practice that will give you access to your own inherent strength, health, vitality, and expanded awareness.  Kundalini Yoga is a powerful practice and works fast.  It is often referred to as the Science of Awareness and is a 7,000 year old technology for maintaining balance in the body, mind, and spirit.  Regular practice of Kundalini Yoga will strengthen the Nervous System and the Circulatory System, balance the Endocrine System, and release tension of the Muscular System.  Kundalini Yoga techniques may help eradicate emotional blocks and ease the mental suffering of trauma.  This form of yoga will also expand the lung capacity, strengthen and tone muscles, and nurture a sense of self-awareness.

Each Kundalini Yoga class consists of pranayama (breath awareness exercise), physical asanas which include rhythmic movements of the body and breath, meditation, mantra, and relaxation.  The core of the Kundalini Yoga class is the Kriya, a specific set of exercises designed to bring about a specific metabolic change.  Each Kriya has a goal, be that cleansing the liver, calming the nerves, or strengthening the heart, etc.  Kriya also assists the ability to meditate.  Although there is a specific function of each Kriya, every Kundalini Yoga class will  help balance all the chakras and systems. 

Lunchtime Vinyasa Yoga Flow: (All Levels)
Join us for a lunchtime flow sequence.  We'll begin with a breath meditation to cleanse the palate and move into a flowing sequence of poses which connect a focused energetic breath that ends in blissful savasana (final relaxation).  Return to work and afternoon activities with restored energy, clarity and awareness!

Pilates: (All Levels)
The Pilates (pi-lah-teez) Method is a system of over 500 exercises performed with control and precision. Pilates was brought to the U.S. in the 1920s by its creator, Joseph Pilates. The movements were designed to stretch and strengthen muscle without adding bulk. Requiring concentration and coordinated breathing, the Pilates Method strengthens both the mind and body. Strength, flexibility, balance and concentration are developed through simple, efficient and effective exercises designed to lengthen your musculature while increasing muscle definition and endurance. Each week, take your Pilates practice to a new level. Experience your instructor's creativity while focusing on your strength, precision and flow.

Slow Flow: (All Levels)
This class is perfect for anyone who would like to restore, renew, or revive their foundation. Take an hour to slow down and come back into your true nature. It is a perfect class for beginners and seasoned yogis alike! We will focus on pranayama (breath), ideal alignment of asanas (postures), and meditation. I invite you to explore the power, support, and love you always have with you.

TGIS - “Thank God It's Sunday”: (All Levels)

Celebrate Sunday in a Sivananda based Classical Hatha yoga class with special understanding for the needs of those who work in the Bar/Restaurant, Health Care, and Retail industries. For many in today's  society Saturday is a hectic work day or busy day of chores. Let this class bring relaxation, flexibility, strength and control to your mind, body and spirit.   No matter what your age or experience, yoga is for everyone.

Vinyasa Yoga: (All Levels)
Vinyasa (Flow) Yoga is a dynamic combination of a fluid sequence of yoga postures with a meditative focus on the breath. A meditation in motion. Explore your inner strength while improving your flexibility, range of motion and physical strength.

Vinyasa Express: (All-levels Flow Moderate Pace for Sports Enthusiasts and Sitters Alike)
Let go of the kinks from summer sports or sitting with this all-levels flow class.Unite the body, mind and spirit while experiencing a balanced blend of twists, forward folds, backbends, and inversions all linked through the breath. Then melt into final relaxation. 

Yoga Flow: (All Levels)
Connect your breath with each movement as you flow through this empowering and invigorating power vinyasa flow.  The class aims to achieve a healthy blend of strength, flexibility and balance. All levels, experience and bodies welcome!! 

Yogilates: (All Levels)
Integrating the benefits of both Yoga & Pilates, this class offers a balance of complete fitness, strength, and flexibility.  The movements are designed to stretch and strengthen muscle without adding bulk.  Coordinated breathing enhances concentration and mind body connection.  Take your practice to a new level through flow, precision and core strengthening exercises.
